SHORT GAP - The Keyser Golden Tornado jumped out to a big first-quarter lead and maintained it throughout to beat the rival Frankfort Falcons, 75-55, on Friday evening in Short Gap.
The Golden Tornado had three players account for 63 of their 75 points, as Jeremy Green led the way with a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Matt Wilmer had 21 points and 3 steals, while Preston Hartman, on the strength of 6 three-pointers, had 20 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
Cody Spotts led Keyser with 8 assists.
Keyser raced out to a 21-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and led by 15 points, 38-23, at the half.
The Golden Tornado upped their lead to 17 points, 56-39, heading into the final quarter.
Skyler Minke led Frankfort with 18 points and Dan Alkire added 12.
Frankfort won the JV game, 52-47.
Marcus Weaver led the Falcons with 18 points, while Logan Wolford added 11 points and James Jones had 10.
Wes Stullenbarger had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for Keyser, which lost just its second game of the season.
Jarell Ross added 8 points.
Keyser (7-4) will return to action Wednesday, Jan. 23, when it hosts Fort Hill for a tripleheader at Tornado Alley.
The Keyser High freshmen will take the court at 4:15 p.m., followed by the JV game at 6 p.m. and the varsity at 7:30.
Frankfort will return to action Monday, Jan. 21, when it travels to take on Southern at 7:30.
