KEYSER - Keyser used a strong third quarter to offset a poor start Monday evening as the Golden Tornado beat Bishop Walsh 66-60 despite having just five players score.The Spartans used a hot hand to grab a 21-9 first quarter lead, and were up as many as 15 points. Myles Clifford, who finished with 13 points, had three three-pointers in the opening period. Alex Trivanovic, who would score 13 points, added six points in the first quarter.
Keyser was able to close the lead to five points by halftime, when the score sat at 32-27. By the end of the third quarter, Keyser had taken a 46-41 lead.The Tornado got ahead by as many as 11 points in the fourth, but Kamran Khataian made four of his six threes to pull the Spartans as close as two points.Jeremy Green led Keyser with 27 points, but Preston Hartman had a monster performancce with 27 points and 17 rebounds. Green also had a double-double by grabbing 10 boards. Matt Wilmer finished with 11 points.
Keyser won the jayvee game 56-46 with Wes Stallinbarger scoring 19 in the win. Dylan D'Atri had 16 for BW.Keyser (5-3) will face Northern tonight on the road. Bishop Walsh (4-8) will play at Berkeley Springs on Wednesday.
