PVC Honors Announced

BERKELEY SPRINGS—The Keyser Golden Tornado boys’ basketball team dominated the All-Potomac Valley Conference team. Jeremy Green, Preston Hartman, and Matt Wilmer were all first team selections.

KHS boss Gary Liston was named the conference’s Coach of the Year. All three players are seniors. Hartman led the team in scoring (15.7 ppg) and rebounds (11.1 rpg). Green averaged 15.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game and Wilmer 12.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per outing. “Any time you graduate three of five starters, that’s a big loss; however when those three starters are your three leading scorers and two leading rebounders, it’s a real big loss,” said Liston. “All three had the ability to take over a game.” Both Green and Hartman scored their 1000th career point for Keyser this year.

Ryan Wratchford (Petersburg) and Ryan Redick (Berkeley Springs) rounded out the first team.

“It’s a nice award, but I would have gladly traded it for a trip to the state tournament,” said Liston. Keyser posted an 18-7 record in the 2008-2009 season, which ended with a 64-52 loss to Webster County in the Region II championship.
