MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Keyser trailed the entire first half but rallied from a double-digit deficit to beat James Wood (Va.) in the consolation game of the University High Holiday Tournament.
Keyser trailed 21-7 after one quarter and 32-23 at halftime. The Golden Tornado took their first lead in the final minute of the third quarter on a Preston Hartman basket and extended the lead in the fourth. Keyser converted key free throws to fend off a late surge from James Wood, which pulled within four with a minute to play.
Jeremy Green had 23 points and seven rebounds for Keyser. Hartman finished 19 points, Maverick Nelson had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Matt Wilmer added eight points, five steals, and nine assists.
Keyser (3-2) will host Northern on Tuesday.
